Instructor of Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

     

Present Position 1. State Registered Paramedic.

  • To respond to emergency and urgent cases.
  • To assess a patient’s condition and treat accordingly within trust protocols.
  • To liaise and communicate with all levels, both internally and externally to create patient care pathways.
  • To work as part as a team or as a solo responder.
  • To maintain service vehicles, equipment and supplies to a high state of readiness.
  • To keep up to date with new clinical developments.

Present Position 2. Flight Paramedic (HEMS)

        • To respond to Emergency’s and carry out critical care transfers.
        • While operating in the aircraft we assist the Pilot with navigation and also maintain communications with other emergency services, Fire, Mountain rescue, Ambulance services and other Air ambulances.
        • As a member of Midland air ambulance we are called to both seriously injured patients and also called on to assist on cases where there are access problems.
        • We are responsible for the safety of all passengers and personal in and around the aircraft.
        • Because we are funded by the generosity of the general public we also have to go out and carry out presentations about the charity.

  Present Position 3 

  • Member of SASHA, (Staffordshire Ambulance Staff Humanitarian Aid)
  • I have been a member of SASHA now for over 3 years, in this time I have worked both in the UK and over seas spreading the good word of pre-hospital medicine.
