Introduction

Blood Bourne Pathogens

We find ourselves in the 21st Century using what appears to be a 19th Century technique when dealing with bacteria, fomites and all other types of infection. Hospitals are closing wards at an alarming rate. Government feels the need to intervene due to the high numbers of Death through things like C Dificile, MRSA, Staphylococcal infections and many more diseases that are invading the Health service and reducing the Health of our in-patients to a nightmare experience. This is not acceptable in the Modern World of Healthcare, we have made leaps and bounds in other areas yet the basics have been left behind.

Simple techniques and higher standards of cleanliness are demanded by the Government, patients deserve the highest standards and we as Healthcare providers must ensure that is what they receive at all times. This course proves to us that despite all the modern disinfectants and anti-bacterial and viral washes there is still a place in this modern era for good old fashioned cleanliness, this is in the form of basic principles such as maintaining an A-septic procedure at all times whilst ensuring we wash our hands thoroughly before and after touching a patient. This is not a Science, it is no miracle cure, just getting back to basics for the protection of our Patient, our family and our own Health.
